The availability of Fire Engines in North Yorkshire has fallen this year.
The fire and rescue service say challenges recruiting on-call fire fighters has been part of the problem but they are now seeing new recruits come through.
Damian Henderson is Director of Service Improvement.
Last year fire engine availability was 76%, that's down to 70% over the first quarter of this year.
Damian Henderson -says finding enough on-call firefighters is the main issue.
Damian says new recruits have been coming through the application process and a number of training courses for on-call fire fighters are now being delivered, he says that will make a difference to fire engine availability.
Chief Fire Officer - Jonathan Dyson - says that while the situation has been challenging the fire service has taken steps to make sure that fire cover is always available across the county.
