Elite cycling teams are set to compete in the Lloyds Tour of Britain’s Men competition, which will take place in Hull and the East Riding on Friday 4 September.
Eighteen teams have been announced, including the world’s number one ranked team, UEAE Team Emirates – XRG, and five UCI WorldTour teams.
The race will depart from East Park in Hull, and the riders will face a 198km stage – with 1,612m of ascent – as they head out to the stunning east coast, through Withernsea, up to Hornsea, and on to Skipsea.
As the race heads to Burton Agnes, a series of climbs face the riders as they head through Driffield before heading downhill into Wetwang as the race gears up for an exciting climax.
Once they reach Beverley, the riders will face a 16km circuit with two passages finishing with a testing uphill drag to the racecourse for its conclusion.
British WorldTour team Netcompany INEOS (Great Britain) will compete for a sixteenth continuous year, looking to add to their one previous Tour win in 2013.
Once again, the Great Britain Cycling Team will also compete in their home Tour, lining up for their 19th participation. They will give British fans the opportunity to watch the country’s most promising talents race against the best teams in the world, on home roads.
They will be joined by teams from across the globe, from Britain, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, the UAE and USA.
This includes the French Decathlon CMA CGM Team, whose seven-time Tour of Britain stage winner Olav Kooij recently took his first Tour de France stage win, and the NSN Cycling Team (Switzerland) of Briton Lewis Askey.
The most successful team in modern Tour of Britain history, Belgian team Soulad Quick-Step, will also compete as well as debutants Modern Adventure Pro Cylcing from the USA, and eight UCI Continental teams competing for the first time.
