Youth and community groups in East Riding are to benefit from a share of £80,000 of funding.
The Positive Activities Grant (PAG) funding is for charity or not for profit organisations that provide recreational and educational leisure-time activities, or emotional wellbeing support, for young people aged 11 and over.
An awarding panel considered the applications earlier this year, involving three East Riding young people in the process of awarding grants.
20 local projects have been awarded a share of the grant including
- Kids Yorkshire and FUSE Youth Services working in Bridlington
- Driffield Youth Action
- Hornsea Town Council
Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education said:
“Voluntary and community organisations play a vital role in supporting our young people in the various communities across the East Riding. Whether it’s sports, life skills, emotional wellbeing or enriching activities, these projects make an impact on our young people – helping them to learn, grow and thrive – and that’s why it’s important for our council to support local groups to deliver.”
Successful projects were invited to an event on Tuesday evening to collect their PAG certificates and meet other youth initiatives benefiting from the grant.
For 2025, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Early Help and Prevention Service allocated £40,000 of funding to support the scheme. An additional £40,000 was committed in February as part of the council’s annual budget setting.
