The winter Flu outbreak may have passed it's peak in the East Riding.
The East Riding appears to be over the worst of a winter flu spike.
The county's director of Public Health - Andy Kingdom - says the latest data suggests the worst may be over.
COVID infections in the East Riding were high over Christmas but the number of people suffering serious effects was low.
Andy Kingdom is the county's director of Public Health, he says the vaccine has been doing it's job.
Health teams in the East Riding have been keeping a close eye on the situation in care homes. Andy Kingdom says there have been both Flu and COVID infections over the last few weeks but that again the vaccinations have been working.
Andy Kingdom added:
“People need to be vigilant, we need some infection control and distancing.
“People should get vaccinated if they haven’t been already and they shouldn’t go to work if they feel ill.
“Masks are a more difficult sell but it does seem that for a lot of people they’re the norm now.
“But masks are only one part of it, you need all the different protections to stop infections and we need to act in a more grown up way about it.”
The director of public health also praised East Riding residents for a strong take-up of the available vaccinations.
