Bridlington Town Council is looking to employ a Deputy Town Clerk.
The council says that the the successful applicant will be responsible for "supporting the Town Clerk over the full spectrum of the Council responsibilities".
The position is for 20 hours per week on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract with a view to becoming permanent. The role will pay between £14-£15 per hour dependent on qualifications and experience.
The job description states:
"The Deputy Town Clerk will deputise for the Town Clerk (TC) in their absence and support the work of the TC and, as such, is under a statutory duty to carry out all functions and in particular, when deputising, to serve or issue all the notifications required by law of a local authority’s Proper Officer.
The Deputy Town Clerk will work under the direction of the TC to ensure that the instructions of the Council
are carried out.The Deputy Town Clerk will work with the TC to:
- advise the Council on, and assist in the formation of, policies
- to produce all information required for making effective decisions; and
- to implement constructively all decisions.
The postholder will be accountable to the Town Clerk for the effective management of all its resources and will report to that officer, and to Council, as and when required."
Amongst other things the role will also involve:
- Provide reception duties, answer telephones and deal with front desk.
- Premises management – Oversight of a future Facilities Team.
- To deputise for the TC in their absence to ensure that legal, statutory and other provisions governing or affecting the running of the Council are observed
- To assist in the preparation of the agendas for the annual calendar of meetings of the Council, its committees, and the Annual Parish/Town Meetings and to attend and, if so required, prepare the minutes of such meetings
