Colours Galore- Bridlington Pride At Bridlington Spa

Saturday sees live entertainment, stalls and prizes and family fun at Bridlington Spa.

The Bridlington Pride Food Drive Raffle is £1 a strip with prizes including Family Tickets for Edge Aerial Adventure, Bridlington Land Train, Sewerby Hall and Driffield Car Craze.

There's also a host of live entertainers including RuPaul's Drag Race contestants.

Co-chairperson of the Event, Donna Walker, says people can expect the following:

"Colours galore. It's going to be a colourful day. The rainbows everywhere. We've got live entertainment all day. In the spa, we've also got free children's activities, which is sponsored by Haven. This year we've got a new element and it's the community room. We've actually got a food bank drop off point, and anybody that donates to it will actually get a raffle entry as well as entry to the tombola.

"So we're trying to promote the food banks in the area for those that are experiencing poverty."

There's a parade from 11.30am before the event at Bridlington Spa starts at 12.30pm.

The East Riding Food Poverty Alliance (ERFPA), a registered charity that supports 15 food and hygiene banks across the East Riding, have been invited to host a food drive at Bridlington Pride.

They are asking attendees to bring along items of food to donate to 3 local food support charities in Bridlington: East Yorkshire Food bank, The Hinge and New Pasture Lane. Everyone who donates an item of food will receive tombola tickets.

They will also have a raffle (£1 a strip) with some fantastic prizes and a Family spin the wheel (£1 a spin-prize every time!). All proceeds will go towards ERFPA and reducing food poverty across the region.

Donna says the support for local food banks is highly important as their use is increasingly widespread:

" Yeah, and I think for the LGBT community, it's particularly difficult because they don't want to be visible. So to be able to provide that forum in a safe space is quite important. I think this is our fourth event and the feedback that we've got is that people do feel safe and feel it's important to be able to have that.

"So we've got Anaphylactic and Friends. Anaphylactic is from Dragula, but we've also got some drag queens who are from RuPaul's Drag Race. We've got a party afterwards at the Old Lifeboat station. It's free to enter. We're just having a bit of a drink and Boogie, but everybody's welcome.

"It's at eight o'clock."

The Spa entertainment runs until 6.30pm.
