Spotlight Youth Theatre, a new partnership between ARCADE and Spotlight Theatre Bridlington, will be bringing their first show – the much-loved creepy musical The Addams Family – to Bridlington tonight.
Based on the 1930s macabre comic, it has inspired countless films and animations, most recently brought onto teenager’s radars last year by Netflix show Wednesday.
A cast of 25 young people from Bridlington will act, sing and dance their way through this smash-hit musical from Friday 28th - Sunday 30th June at Spotlight Theatre, Bridlington.
The show is led by acclaimed local director Alex Weatherill, a performer and Director with years of West End industry experience. Alex has directed multiple community shows at Bridlington Spa and various Scarborough venues including Pinnochio and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Based and run at the Spotlight Theatre, Spotlight Youth Theatre is a new youth arm of the Bridlington Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (BAODS), a thriving local theatre company that’s existed for more than a hundred years. Chairman, Mike Sheldon said,
‘We are delighted to see the new group get off to such a brilliant start. Tickets have already been flying out the door, so if you want to see this fantastic show, you need to book now.’
Spotlight Youth Theatre is produced by ARCADE, a community producing company and registered charity based in Scarborough and Bridlington.
The group runs during term time and will be welcoming new members in September. Rach Drew, Co-Director of ARCADE said,
‘The youth theatre provides a safe space for young people to build confidence, make new friends and grow their skills. We know the group have been rehearsing hard each week since January and we can’t wait to see the results.’
Young people aged between 12-18 who are interested in joining the group from September should contact ARCADE on info@hello- arcade.com.
Spotlight Youth Theatre is funded by the I Am Fund, Arts Council England and East Riding of Yorkshire Council
