Bridlington And South East Holderness Residents Encouraged To Get Involved In £20 Million Regeneration Efforts

Locals in Bridlington and South East Holderness are being invited to share their views and apply for neighbourhood board positions to help direct nearly £40 million in regeneration funding through the Pride in Place Programme.

Residents in Bridlington and South East Holderness are being encouraged to share their views on how best their areas can benefit from regeneration projects or to sign up to become board members for their local Pride in Place initiatives.

Announced in September 2025, the Pride in Place Programme will provide up to £19.6 million each for two areas in the East Riding of Yorkshire - Bridlington West and Withernsea East & Patrington.

Residents are encouraged to take part in an online engagement, helping to identify the priorities and opportunities that matter most to their communities.

An additional aspect of the programme are neighbourhood boards, consisting of local residents and community representatives, supported by the local authority and MPs. The boards will play a central role in shaping and approving investment plans, ensuring decisions are grounded in local knowledge and ambition.

In line with Government requirements, at least 51% of Board members must live or work within the area of benefit and Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for people who wish to join the Bridlington West or Withernsea East & Patrington Neighbourhood Boards.

Two Interim Chairs have been appointed, following agreement between East Riding of Yorkshire Council and local constituency MPs.

Martyn Coltman has been named Interim Chair for Bridlington West, and Jayne Nendick has been appointed Interim Chair for Withernsea East & Patrington.

Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader, said:

“We’re proud to support communities across the region, and to support the Pride in Place initiative to help regenerate Bridlington, Withernsea and the wider South East Holderness area. We encourage interested residents to find out more and get involved if they can.”

Residents who are interested in joining the board, should be able to represent the local area and bring knowledge, experience, or passion for community‑led change. An independent selection committee, led by the interim Chairs and supported by MPs and the Council, is being formed to oversee the recruitment process and develop draft terms of reference.

Residents can share their views on the pride in place initiatives at https://bridlingtonwest.commonplace.is/ or https://withernseaandpatrington.commonplace.is/

Residents can access the applications forms to join the board, online at https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/council/grants-and-funding/pride-in-place/ or complete paper forms available to collect at Bridlington Town Hall, Bridlington Business Centre, and Withernsea Leisure Centre.

The selection process is expected to conclude in May following a shortlisting and interview process. The application window will be open until 12 noon on Monday 20 April.
