Author Sharon Wright visits Filey Library tol talk about her fascinating book “The Mother of the Brontes,” giving a valuable information and insights to this fascinating family and their links to the Yorkshire Coast

More Information (This is the Coast is not responsible for external websites)

We are all familiar with the work of the three Bronte sisters, icons of Yorkshire. We may know about their brother, their father and even their aunt. But when was their mother ever mentioned in history?

The Yorkshire Coast was special to Charlotte Bronte, she stayed in Filey twice, and her sister Anne is of course buried at St Mary’s Church in Scarborough. This talk was originally scheduled at Filey Library as part of Filey Literature Festival in May 2020 and we are delighted to say that Sharon Wright’s talk will take place at Filey Library on Thursday 14 October from 10:30.

Owing to current restrictions, we have limited available space in the library at the moment. North Yorkshire Library Service and Filey Literature festival want to give as many people as possible the chance to hear this fascinating insight into the life of an extraordinary woman, so in a first for Filey Library we are having an in person audience and live streaming the talk.

If you would like to book a ticket for the online talk please book via Eventbrite or contact Filey Library on 01609 536608, or email Filey.Library@northyorks.gov.uk.
