Paul Oldfield (Historian and Battlefield guide) presents a talk on the planning and genesis of the D Day landings .
How The Americans wanted to Invade Europe as early as the autumn of 1942 and why such a plan would have ended in disaster
How the landings depended upon success in other theatres of war -the trans-atlantic and desert campaigns
What command structure needed to be created and how a major deception plan was created to confuse and mislead the enemy.
